Statement
I watched my dad stuff a doe with gas station ice bags when I was seven. I shared a deep connection with her; I understood the violation.
Through memories and photos of my upbringing in southern Ohio, my work reflects how isolation and violence can alter the way we view our bodies, and its ties to specific objects or places. The primal act of hunting and butchering deer influences my process, saturating fabric in latex, exploring suspension and restraint with metal. Within these works you will find the distant echo of Midwest decay and neglect, a reflection of how environment is rooted within me.
The modification of furniture and decor from my childhood home expands beyond mundane objects; they become vessels tainted by buried memories.
